Community Studies
KCLS chooses 4-5 community library service areas to study in depth each year, reviewing each community about every 10 years. We're coordinating studies with our Capital Improvement Plan (2004-2015), focusing on the communities lined up for new library construction projects in the earliest phase of the plan.
After identifying a library's service area, collecting school and demographic statistics, analyzing the community, and developing recommendations for improved library services and collections, a written report is presented at the KCLS Board of Trustees' monthly meeting. This presentation takes place at the library evaluated in the community study.
