Welcome!

Bill PtacekWith more than 1.2 million residents in the King County Library System (KCLS) service area, it is essential that the library’s programming, collection and employment practices reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. Diversity requires much more than simply acknowledging the varied backgrounds and histories of people who use the library— the library must be a place where all people feel comfortable and welcome.
KCLS strives to reflect diversity in all aspects of the library system’s operations. In 2007, KCLS was honored to receive the Eastside Business Award for Celebrating Diversity. The award symbolizes what we have done well in our journey to embracing and honoring all individuals and we continue to look for ways to enhance diversity at all 44 KCLS libraries.
