Community Outreach

KCLS staff is committed to serving a diverse population. Staff strive to ensure that all patrons feel welcome when they enter KCLS libraries and that they find the resources and materials they need.

Hello PacketsOutreach efforts include participating in cultural events in the KCLS service area and enhancing the diversity of the collection, programming and KCLS staff. KCLS translates and prints informational materials, such as Hello Packets, in seven languages: Spanish, Korean, French, Somali, Vietnamese, Chinese and Russian.

Upcoming Cultural Events
The KCLS Diversity Committee will participate in two cultural events in 2009. To identify upcoming community events that may be attended by diverse groups, a Community Events List was created for 2009.
