Burien Library

The Details:
Construction of the new 32,000 square foot Burien Library was completed in June 2009. The $18 million library was planned in conjunction with the construction of a new Burien City Hall, at Burien Town Center. The joint development allowed the entities to share costs of construction, taxes and consultant fees.

The new library includes more materials, computers, space for children and teens and community meeting space, some of which is shared with the city.

The current Burien Library closed on May 16 in preparation for the move to the new library. Holds may be picked up at the current Library, but staff is moving the collection into the new building. The Library will open to the community on Saturday, June 13, 10am, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an afternoon of programs and entertainment.
