Kent Library: Monthly Update Archives
March 2010
The Library opened to the public on Saturday, March 6 after a six-month closure for renovations. A new entry plaza and relocated meeting room and restrooms have created a much more inviting library. A new Automated Materials Handling system was installed in the backroom, to help return materials to shelves more quickly. Additional cosmetic improvements including paint, carpet and lighting will be supported by future operations budgets.
February 2010
Renovation work is nearing completion. The project includes remodeling the interior, relocating the meeting rooms and restrooms and moving the staff workroom closer to the entrance. The enhancements will provide more public space and allow staff to better monitor patron activity throughout the building. Exterior brick work and plumbing in the restrooms has been completed and drywall finishing is in progress. The Library will reopen to the community on March 6, 2010, 10am.
December 2009
The Library is closed for renovations and the installation of Automated Materials Handling equipment. A temporary location is available on Meeker Street, which allows for holds pick-up. Interior framing has been completed and drywall installation is now under way.
November 2009
The Library continues to be closed for renovation and the installation of Automated Materials Handling equipment. Construction is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2010.
October 2009
The Library is closed for renovation and the installation of automated materials handling equipment. A temporary location is available at 406 West Meeker Street, Suite A, which allows for holds pickup. Construction will be completed in the first quarter of 2010.

The Library closed on September 16 to begin interior remodeling work. A temporary location is available to library patrons during construction at 406 West Meeker Street, Suite A.
August 2009
The Library will be closing on September 16 for interior remodeling, which includes adding an automated materials-handling system and reconfiguring the back room. Temporary services will be available.
July 2009
Interior improvements to the Kent Library, including the addition of an automated materials-handling system and reconfiguration of the backroom, has been submitted for permitting. Construction is anticipated to start in late summer 2009.
