Kirkland Library Construction Project

The Details:
The planning and design process to expand the Kirkland Library is underway. The proposed $3.29 million plan includes a 4,000 square foot expansion of the current 15,000 square foot library, as well as more materials, computers, wireless access and space for children and teens. The plan also includes upkeep and maintenance of the library during the next decade.

The plans and specifications for the expanded and renovated Library are in the construction documents phase. The consultant team is refining the plans to ensure that construction costs are within allocated funding for the project. The building permit set is being prepared and is anticipated to be submitted to the City of Kirkland in June. Construction may start in the fall of 2008.
