Construction work is currently under way at many KCLS libraries, thanks to a $172 million capital bond that was strongly supported by residents in September 2004. New replacement libraries are being built in some communities, while other libraries are being renovated or expanded. The KCLS Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) was developed through extensive community outreach and involvement prior to the election and includes enhancements for all 43 KCLS libraries to meet community needs during the next decade.
