Auto Repair Manuals

Burien Library has an extensive collection of auto repair manuals for domestic and import cars and trucks. The collection includes repair manuals as well as wiring diagrams. Many manuals may be checked out although some are for use in the library only. Manuals not available at Burien Library may be requested from another KCLS library.

Languages Collection

Books, magazines and newspapers are available in Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese at the Burien library.

Government Publications

Government documents at Burien Library include a variety of documents of local interest, such as SeaTac Airport reports and environmental impact statements, municipal codes for Burien and Normandy Park, the Seattle Municipal Code, and the King County Code. The Revised Code of Washington, the Washington Administrative Code, and United States Code are also available. Other resources are available through KCLS Government and Legal Information.

Literacy and English as a Second Language Materials

Materials useful to students, whether they are learning English as a second language or working to improve reading skills, are available at the library. Quiet study rooms are available for use by students and tutors. These rooms may be reserved ahead of time. Lake Burien Literacy Program provides some of the tutors who use the library as a resource.

Northwest Collection

Burien Library's Northwest Collection is the largest concentration of Northwest history materials in the King County Library System. Books, periodicals, clipping files, maps, microform, and audio/video materials are shelved in open stacks - you are free to browse!

The collection focuses on:

  • The life and culture of the Northwest's native peoples
  • Northwest exploration and the westward movement
  • The history of Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia
  • The life, history and culture of the Central Puget Sound Region
  • The history of other areas as it pertains to Washington State
Much of the collection is to be viewed in the library, but Burien Library will happily send any reference materials to your local King County Library System branch library. Circulating items in the collection are checked out for the same loan periods as other King County Library materials. Cataloged materials are listed in the King County Library System catalog. At the copy status screen, you will see "Northwest Collection" directly above the Dewey Decimal call number.
