Mount Si Artist Guild Art Exhibition

This will be the sixth annual Art Show at the North Bend Library by the Mount Si Artist Guild. The guild is a nonprofit organization and consists of Snoqualmie Valley men and women who gather to foster and promote visual fine arts through encouragement, education, workshops and events. They meet the third Saturday of each month at the Mount Si Senior Center at 9:15am.

Meet Dianne Aprile, Washington Trust Fellow

Dianne will read excerpts from Thicker Than Water, her current work in progress, a memoir of her special relationship with an eccentric aunt whose long, resilient, friend-filled life belied a 70-year struggle with the stigma and challenges of mental illness. Dianne will also read a selection from The Eye Is Not Enough: On Seeing and Remembering, a collaboration with visual artist M.L. Hess, re-issued in paperback in 2012. Join the author in a discussion after the reading.

Introduction to Origami for Adults

Origami artists from PAPER will be teaching a two session introduction to origami for adults at the Redmond Library. In this class learn the basic folds, read origami diagrams and create a few wonderfully fun pieces to take home. All models will be simply explained and easy to fold. Please be aware that the second class on May 22nd will build on knowledge obtained in the previous week's class. Materials will be provided by PAPER.

Using Diplomacy to Strengthen Our Economic Relations in Russia and Beyond

In the third of the World Speaker Forum series, Thomas (Toby)Wolf will discuss his diplomatic experiences as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. State Department, focusing on trade and international relations. Most recently, Mr. Wolf was the U.S. Embassy's Senior Trade Officer in Moscow. He supported U.S. trade and investment priorities over a two-year period that saw Russia join the World Trade Organization. His previous postings include Tokyo and Paris. He worked in humanitarian and peacekeeping efforts in Croatia and Bosnia in the mid-1990s. He is a recipient of the State Department's Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards.
