Thumbelina Puppet Show

Ages 4 and older.
Flower child Thumbelina doesn’t want to live in a mole’s underground tunnel. How will she ever escape and find her home in the land of the flower fairies? Enjoy a beautiful shadow puppet show with live music.
Performance is held in a dark room and is not appropriate for very young children.

Miss Margaret's Bon Voyage

Come wish farewell to long time Mercer Island Children's Librarian Margaret Martin as she pursues new adventures in Cambodia. Drop by to say goodbye and enjoy cake, refreshments and a musical performance with Nancy Stewart!

The Enchanted Garden Story Workshop

There seems to be something wrong in the Enchanted Garden! Stories will grow, but nothing else. Following clues found in an old book, can you help restore this magical place?

Reading Buddies

Help your child practice reading while making a new friend! Children ages 5 to 8 are invited to stop by the Children’s Area of the Mercer Island Library from 1-3 pm for a 20 minute reading session with a local teen. Teen volunteers have literacy training. The program runs on Wednesdays, July 10 - July 31.

Make a Meerkat Pop-Up Puppet Art Workshop

Ages 8 and older.
Meerkats are small mammals that live in burrows. Create a pop-up meerkat puppet and learn more about these amazing animals.

The Barber’s Wife, A Play

Ages 3 and older.
Enjoy a Punjabi folktale about two thieves who think they are digging for gold but find only trouble when the barber’s wife outsmarts them.
