Described by Library Journal as “The People’s Library”, KCLS has greatly expanded its services with a host of new innovations and programs. A Future Services strategy is underway to develop new ways to deliver services to patrons in KCLS libraries, out in the community and online. This positions KCLS to keep pace with changes in technology, shifting community demographics and changing patron needs and expectations.
Setting the standard of excellence for libraries, KCLS attracts, develops and retains an innovative, talented and diverse workforce.
KCLS strives to recruit and hire employees from diverse backgrounds, based on qualifications and abilities. Both the recruitment process and ongoing training promote a workforce that supports and encourages diversity.
It is the policy of the King County Library System to provide free, open and equal access to collections that represent the widely diverse interests of its communities, in order to encourage users to encounter the rich diversity of concepts on which a democratic society depends.
KCLS employs approximately 1,200 staff members in 49 locations throughout King County. We offer a wide range of opportunities, both full and part-time. See how you can play a role in our work. Click here to see our Job Opportunities.
