Welcome to Enumclaw. The name Enumclaw is derived from a local Native American word meaning "Place of evil spirits" and the city is named after a mountain about six miles north. The local Natives believed that the Thunder Bird lived in a cave on this mountain, and had changed tribesmen into thunder for all time. (Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
