Paranormalcy Paranormalcy book cover
by Kiersten White

Evie swears she's a normal teen. Even though she's been working for the IPCA (International Paranormal Containment Agency) ever since she was found wandering alone as child, and can see through the glamours that paranormals use to hide their true forms. She has the same ups and downs as regular teens. She's got problems with her faery ex-boyfriend, loves her pink bedazzled taser (she calls it tasey), is obsessed with a teenaged soap opera and has a newfound fascination for the incarcerated shape-shifter Lend. But Evie's normal life is about to become much stranger...paranormals across the world have begun turning up dead and their deaths seem connected to a prophecy that might be about her.

(booktalk by Jocelyn Redel, Arlington Library)

I've always thought of myself as normal. Sure, I dated a fairy once. And my best friend is a mermaid. And I can see through paranormals' glamours. AND I work for the International Paranormal Containment Agency (The IPCA, you know?) ...

Okay. So much for normal.

It's just that I have normal feelings you know? Sure I use a taser to bag, tag, and collect renegade paranormals, but it's pink, and totally bedazzled (I call it Tasey). I like TV, and dating, (that new guy, Lend--the shapeshifter who broke into the IPCA? Soooo hot!)

It's just that it's gotten weird lately. Okay: More wierd. Paranormals are dying all over. Not my problem. right? Except, they found this prophecy, and it's about me.

So it all might be my fault.

And I've got to do something about it.

Normal is history.
