A non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals
and the creation of a more responsible and humane community. "We provide
for and protect abandoned, abused and unwanted animals and promote animal
welfare through programs and services that mutually benefit animals and people."
Regular workshops are offered in the evenings at a cost of $5; a class schedule
is published quarterly.

The Kent Arts Commission operates the City's Gallery in City Hall, where the
shows change monthly. They also cosponsor performing arts presentations at

A partnership of public and community based organizations providing a vital
array of tools and services every job seeker and employer needs. The CDC Resource
Library includes an Internet room with 45 Internet-access self-service computers,
a number of phones and faxes, a video center, interview rooms, job search
materials, and a play room for children. Workshops are regularly offered on
career planning and transition, resume writing, job search strategies, searching
the Internet, and more. There is no charge for these services.
Gardening
The Fairwood Garden Club meets the first Thursday of each month at 10 am at the Vantage Glen Community House, 18100 107th Pl. SE (next to Fred Meyer), Renton, WA. Drop-in to "interesting programs with guest speakers, fun field trips (transportation provided), great lunches, and just have a fun social time." Master Gardeners at the Fairwood Library: Master Gardeners are volunteers who are sponsored and trained in plant problem solving by Washington State University Cooperative Extension. Master Gardeners are off for the summer and will return on Saturdays from September 13 to October 25.
In between Saturday visits, you can contact the Master Gardener program at the King County Cooperative Extension office, Mon-Fri 10 am to 4 pm, 206-296-3440.

Established in 1968, the Fairwood Golf and Country Club is a private, nonprofit
club, devoted to the social and recreational interests of its members. Clubhouse
facilities include a dining room with adjacent patio, a banquet room, and
lounge. The outdoor, heated swimming pool is open from Memorial Day through
Labor Day. Golf activities, driving range, and pro shop complete the offerings
open to members. Nonmembers may sign up for swimming and golf lessons.

King County Parks Parks and Trails Atlas
Access to information about King County parks, trails, recreation programs, events, and activities. The 1997 edition includes an inventory of all 220 King County parks, 200 miles of regional trails and 18 swimming pools. By looking at the inventory, you can find a spot for your next picnic, a place to play tennis, an appropriate trail for a bicycle ride or hike, and more.
