Friends of the Fairwood Library

Be A Friend!

Looking for a way to be more involved in our community?

Consider becoming a Friend of the Fairwood Library! Share your love of books, make new friends, and invest your time and energy in expanding opportunities for kids, families and seniors in and around our community.

Friends of the Fairwood Library is a non-profit group that supports the Fairwood Library by volunteering, hosting fund-raising activities, sponsoring programs and services, and increasing awareness of the library’s vital community role.

Past projects of the Friends include raising money for children, teen, and adult programs, such as English as a Second Language, Story Time, and the Summer Reading Program. Membership offers you the opportunity to share your views, donate your time, and lend your talents to make Fairwood Library the best it can be.

Friends of the Fairwood Library Book Sale
The Friends of the Fairwood Library has a cart of books and magazines for sale in the front lobby. All the proceeds are used to fund library programs. The Friends of the Fairwood Library accepts books and magazines in good condition. Please call the library for more information at 425-226-0522.

It’s easy to join, and fun to be involved. We have opportunities for weekly volunteers, or helping with our annual book sale.

Volunteer Opportunities


The Fairwood Library welcomes volunteers to help with many of the tasks it takes to run a busy branch library. There are many types of volunteer opportunities at the Fairwood Library:

  • Teen Volunteers looking to fulfill school community service credits may volunteer by working on special projects and helping to tidy the Teen section in the library.  Ask Rosalie, the Fairwood Library Teen Volunteer Coordinator, for more information.

  • Tech Tutor Program, teach classes to library patrons on how to use personal computers and the Internet. Ask Jennie, the Fairwood  Library Netmaster Coordinator, for more information

  • Study Zone Tutor, acting as a tutor to answer homework questions and direct students to additional resources. To find out more information, call 425-369-3456

  • Talk Time is a free conversation class to improve basic English. Meet people from around the world and learn about American culture.  Ask Peter, the Fairwood  Library Talk Time Coordinator, for more information.

  • Words on Wheels is a program where staff and volunteers bring materials to people who can't get to the library. For more information contact Susan LaFantasie at 425-369-3235 or 1-877-905-2008.

  • Become a member of the Friends of the Fairwood Library.
