Looking for a way to be more involved in our community?
Consider becoming a Friend of the Federal Way Libraries! Share your love of books, make new friends, and invest your time and energy in expanding opportunities for kids, families and seniors in and around our community.
Friends of the Federal Way Libraries is a non-profit group that supports the Federal Way 320th & Federal Way Regional Libraries by volunteering, maintaining an ongoing book sale, sponsoring programs and services, and increasing awareness of the library’s vital community role.
Past projects of the Friends include raising money for children, teen, and adult programs, supporting early literacy activities like Books for Babies, and hosting historical and arts programs in the libraries. Membership offers you the opportunity to share your views, donate your time, and lend your talents to make the Federal Way Libraries the best they can be.
It’s easy to join, and fun to be involved. Annual membership costs $5 for individuals, $10 for families, and $25 for businesses; and entitles members to book sale previews.
To learn more, stop by either branch and pick up a membership application, or call the Federal Way Library at 253-838-3668 and ask for John Sheller Catherine Lord. Meetings are held throughout the year.
Please join our active and growing group of dedicated library supporters!
Volunteers play an important and valued role by assisting library staff with a variety of tasks and projects necessary to the librarys daily operations. Volunteers help with keeping the library organized and looking nice and by making sure there is a constant supply of materials (such as sharpened pencils, handouts, scratch paper, etc.) needed for the maintenance of a busy library. Below is a list of some of projects that volunteers may be asked to do:
- Process paperback books
- Sharpen pencils, cut scratch paper, sort materials for handouts, etc.
- Use the computer to create lists
- Prepare craft materials for childrens programs
- File updates to loose-leaf notebooks
- Dust and clean shelves
- And many others!
If you are interested in volunteering at the Federal Way Library, please call 253-838-3668, ext. 6 and ask to speak with the Volunteer Coordinator.
As a Tech Tutor Volunteer, you have the opportunity to teach others how to use personal computers and those provided at our KCLS libraries. At the Federal Way Library, you will teach 1-2 basic computer classes, once a month, working directly with patrons on our public PCs. We provide basic computer class manuals which are used for your curriculum outline. NetMaster Volunteers help KCLS achieve our goal of providing free and relevant computer instruction to patrons. Please contact the Federal Way Library for more information, 253-838-3668.
