Become a KCLS Talk Time Volunteer!
Help people in your community with their conversational English skills. We’ll provide the training, you provide the energy.
Time Commitment: Facilitate a weekly class for at least three months. Classes range from 1.5 to two hours long, depending on the location.
Duties: Facilitate one Talk Time session once per week for up to two hours; Prepare a weekly lesson plan and class materials; Collaborate and cooperate as a team with other volunteers; Report monthly statistics; Provide a safe and respectful environment that promotes learning and sharing; Be aware of and sensitive to the difficulties that English language learners face; Be aware of resources available for English Language Learners in your library and community.
Desired Skills: Proficient in the English language, organized, outgoing, and friendly.
Required: All volunteers must be 18 years or older and submit an Application Form and Washington State Patrol Criminal History Check.

Note: Applying to volunteer at KCLS is the first step towards becoming a volunteer, which also includes an interview with a KCLS staff and passing a Washington State Patrol background check.

If you have already completed any KCLS online volunteer application, click on the Opportunities link above, click the SIGN UP! Button and select Yes for the question: "Do you have an existing myVolunteerPage.com username and password?"
3) PRINT the KCLS Signature Forms here and return your completed forms to KCLS. If you have been actively volunteering with KCLS in the past 12 months, you do not have to re-submit any signature forms.
KCLS volunteers must be able to pass a Request for Conviction Criminal Background History Record (RCW 10.97). We are unable to accept applicants with any form of conviction for abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult.
