Gift Planning

Yound man readingLeave a lasting legacy and help ensure that literacy, lifelong learning and other library programs continue well into the future by including the King County Library System Foundation in your will or estate plan. Bequests can be unrestricted or designated for a specific library program, collection, or purpose.  For suggested bequest language that you can take to your attorney, please contact the KCLS Foundation.

Your retirement assets (including IRAs, annuities, pension plan, etc.) may make a wonderful gift because they can pass tax-free to the KCLS Foundation.
There are many creative, tax-advantaged ways to make a charitable gift.  Benefits can include an immediate income tax deduction, as well as other tax advantages.  Some planned gift options provide you or a loved one with an annual income while supporting the KCLS Foundation in a way that is meaningful to you.

What to Give

The King County Library System Foundation accepts many types of gifts.  In addition to cash, you can give stocks, bonds, real estate, tangible personal property, life insurance policies, and other assets.  Please contact the KCLS Foundation prior to making gifts other than cash.

Named Endowed Funds

A bequest or other planned gift can be designated to create a permanent fund, in your honor or in memory of a loved one.  Endowed funds can be restricted for a specific use or unrestricted so that they can be used to support the Foundation’s most important needs.  You can create an endowed fund at any time during your lifetime or through your estate plan.

For more information on gift planning options that provide creative and flexible solutions as you pursue your charitable, financial, and estate planning goals contact (Mr.) Lynn Schrader by email or by phone at 425-369-3225.

Since the KCLS Foundation does not give professional tax or legal advice, donors should contact their legal and tax advisors about the consequences of a gift.  We also encourage donors to discuss their philanthropic plans with members of their family.
