Literary Feast authors Cliff and Nancy Hollenbeck to appear
at Burien Library, November 21.
Northwest authors Cliff and Nancy Hollenbeck will visit the Burien library on Saturday Nov. 21, for a book-reading and signing event. The best-selling local authors are featured in the book, “Literary Feast, The Famous Authors Cookbook,” which is a compilation of 100 food, drink and dessert recipes from scores of well-known authors and writers.
Travel and tourism authors and internationally acclaimed photographers Cliff and Nancy Hollenbeck of Normandy Park will headline the book signing. When they’re not writing books, traveling, making movies or taking travel photographs, the couple enjoys making their “Puttanesca Ragu” recipe, which is featured in Literary Feast.
In addition to their newest book, Freelance Photographer's Handbook, Success in Professional Digital Photography, the Hollenbecks are internationally known for their travel destination photography, which includes projects for hotels, resorts, cruise lines, airlines and publishers.
Together they have authored more than two dozen books on travel and marketing.
Their much-acclaimed book, Mexico, which they wrote with novelist James A. Michener, is a perennial bestseller. The Hollenbeck’s film company has received Gold Medals at the International Film Festivals in New York and Chicago, and Cliff has twice been named Travel Photographer of the Year.
The free author event, which is scheduled from 2-4 p.m., will allow for a meet-and-greet plus a book signing. The proceeds from the sale of the Literary Feast cookbook benefit the King County Library System Foundation’s literacy and reading programs. Literary Feast can be purchased at the event. The book is also available through www.thriftbooks.com/literaryfeast and at a variety of book stores.
Literary Feast: The Famous Authors Cookbook
The King County Library System Foundation announces an exciting new cookbook - Literary Feast: The Famous Authors Cookbook ($22.95) - to benefit literacy and lifelong learning programs in our libraries and in our communities.
Literary Feast is a fascinating collection offering nearly 100 outstanding food, drink and dessert recipes along with author profiles plus their personal perspectives.
It features a piquant foreword by noted chef and author Greg Atkinson who understands the art of writing and knows his way around the kitchen. Notable Northwest authors J.A. Jance, Garth Stein, John Nance, Deb Caletti, and Nancy Pearl are featured alongside national bestselling writers Alexander McCall Smith, Faye and Jonathan Kellerman, and Chez Panisse’s Alice Waters.
Authors provided their favorite recipes and stories about their families, cooking, and more. The book offers a glimpse into their lives and their work and provides an array of recipes from Barry White Baked Brie (Jennie Shortridge) to Zia Irma’s Italian Sponge Cake (Adriana Trigiani) to After-Burner Chili (John Nance).
Issaquah author of young adult novels, Deb Caletti said, “This is a true crossover book that combines reader’s interest in bestselling authors with literary insight, family histories, regional comforts and even a few love stories.”
“Literary Feast is a wonderful commingling of the literate and the luscious, ideal for anyone who, like me, would rather be reading, unless I’m in the kitchen cooking or at the table eating,” add Providence Cicero, Seattle Times food writer and restaurant critic.
