Swifter, higher, stronger: a photographic history of the Summer Olympics by Sue Macy (Author)
Hoops by Walter Dean Myers (Author)
What is this book about?
A typical high school football player is pressed by his dad and by his own mind to do better. He decides to solve his problems with steroids and he soon realizes the consequences that come with them.
What do you like/dislike about it?
This was a wonderfully written book, staying faithful to the tone of Deuker's other books but adding a new, more adult theme. Some parts made me laugh out loud, while others made tears come to my eyes. The emotion and action are very strong, and the theme is a great addition to any collection.
Who would enjoy reading it?
Football players would understand the terms, but anyone who loves a strong plot and strong characters would be able to connect. Chelsea, age 14, Bothell Library
