Vote 96 - Proposition 209
Information from the California Secretary of State about proposition 209, a constitutional amendment passed by California voters on November 5, 1996 that bans the state from granting preferential treatment on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, or national origin. It is now Artilcle1, Section31 of the California Constitution.
