A publication, available online and in a downloadable format, detailing examples of actions communities and individuals have taken to prevent and combat against hate crimes and groups.  From the Southern Poverty Law Center, “a nonprofit civil rights organization dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry, and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society.”

Hate Crime Laws 
From the Anti-Defamation League, this site provides details on federal and state legislation. Select “State Hate Crime Laws” and then your state to view its hate crimes statutory provisions.

Hate Crime Statistics
Statistics gathered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on crimes motivated by biases based on race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity/national origin, and disability.

Not in Our Town
A site that documents community and school responses to hate crimes and hate groups.  Includes several videos, a map of reported hate crimes across the U.S.  Click on Not in Our School for an educator’s network and lesson plans for classroom use.  A project of The Working Group, a non-profit media company “that combines television, internet and web resources with outreach and organizing efforts in the areas of workplace issues; race, diversity and the battle against intolerance.”

Partners Against Hate 
This organization, founded by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education, provides resources to prevent juvenile hate-related behavior.
