Antiquarian Maps 
From Reed College, this site allows you to browse or search their collection of antiquarian maps. Includes photographs and brief descriptions. Maps date from the 15th century to 19th century and include maps from the Americas as well as from around the world.

Finland 500 Years on the Maps of Europe  
From the Museum of Central Finland, this site provides a collection of historical maps of Finland and Scandinavia. Maps date from 1470 to present day and include text descriptions and explanations. Click on maps to see larger view.

Historical Maps
Provides links to historical maps organized by culture. Created by Eric Rymer, a World History teacher in the Ohio public school system.

History  
From BBC Online, this site provides timelines for Britain, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales. Timelines run from Neolithic and Bronze Ages (4000-750 BC) to Post WWII (1945 onwards).

Maps of the Silk Road  
Four different maps showing the route of the Silk Road from China to Rome are provided by Angier School in Massachusetts.

Perry-Castañeda Library Map Collection  
The University of Texas provides full-color maps for many countries and regions of the world, including a section titled Historical Maps. Some of the maps take a while to load - note the size of the file. Also includes links to a wide variety of other cartographic reference sources.
