Collections
Kent Library collection includes a variety of materials: books, DVDs, audio books on CD and cassette, music CDs, newspapers, magazines, microfiche of Seattle Times, Seattle PI, and local Kent newspapers.
Special collections in the library include Choice Reads with new paperbacks, Large Print books, College and Career Center, Consumer Information, an African American Achievement collection, and auto manuals.
Foreign language collections include books and magazines in Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Chinese, Japanese, Punjabi, Hindi, Russian, Ukrainian, Tagalog, and Farsi.
Kent Library has an ESL collection with books and a selection of audiovisual materials for the needs of beginning adult readers, students of English as a Second Language, Literacy/ESL tutors, and patrons looking to gain US citizenship.
Automated self check-in is available inside and outside the entrance. Kent has 6 self check-out terminals in the library.
Computers & Computer Classes
Kent Library has 11 computers for access to the KCLS online catalog/online databases and 50 computers for Internet access with filtered access options and Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
A KCLS library card is needed to reserve a computer. Patrons may access Kent Library computers up to 2 hours per day. Computers are available for two-hour, one-hour, half-hour and 15-minute use.
The Children's area includes 2 filtered Internet terminals and 4 special workstations with educational computer programs for preschool aged children.
Patrons may reserve an Internet computer to 2 days in advance at the library, online or by phone at 253-859-3330. There is a 10-minute grace period for reservations.
Kent Library offers a free wireless connection to our server for people with laptops and other wireless devices. The library system's wire-less networks are open to all visitors and do not require any special logins, passwords, nor encryption. Due to the variety of computer systems, library staff cannot help visitors to configure their own equipment.
Computer Classes
The Kent Library offers free computer classes each month. Classes are typically for beginners and schedules vary each month. Registration is required by phone or in person at the Information Desk. Meeting Rooms & Equipment
Two free public meeting spaces are available for non-commercial use. Rooms may be reserved once per month up to two months in advance (full meeting room policy and online reservations). The small room accommodates 35 people; the large room seats up to 191. Rooms may be reserved online or by contacting the Information Desk at 253-859-3330
ESL, Talk Time & Citizenship Classes

Our children's collection also includes many non-fiction books which are an invaluable resource for homework assignments and curious little minds. We also offer Study Zone tutoring assistance for elementary through high school age students.
Our children's area features two filtered Internet computers as well as four preschool game computers.
The children's librarians offer story times for all ages and are also available for special story times and tours for groups by appointment. We have special story times in Spanish also! Current programming is continuously updated on our webpage or you may call the library at 253-859-3330 for program information.
For Teens
A variety of resources and programs are available. [link here teen zone page] Teens (ages 12-18) will find a selection of classics, non-fiction, novels, books on CD, graphic novels, comics and magazines. Reading recommendations and awards lists are available. The African American Achievement Collection contains fiction and nonfiction by and about African American culture, achievement and innovation. Stop in and see what's new.
Game On! - video game time for teens happens each week in the large meeting room on Tuesday afternoons starting at 3:30. Test your skills with favorite Nintendo, Wii and Playstation games. Teens in Middle School, Jr. High and High School are invited. Stop in and play, no advanced sign-up required.
Free Homework Help
Need homework help? Get it at the library! No registration required. Volunteers will be on hand to help students with their homework during Study Zone hours.
Kent Library Book Group
Join the Kent Library Book Group for lively discussions of both fiction and nonfiction. Books are selected in May for the year. The group picks a variety of titles ranging from classics to mysteries, history to biographies. Books for the book group are available for check out one month prior to the book group. The book group meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 1 pm, and new members are always welcome!
