Friends of the Kirkland Library (FOLK)

Friends of the Library of Kirkland (FOLK) is an all volunteer non-profit organization founded in 1987 by Kirkland citizens.

Our purpose is:

  • To encourage closer relations between the Kirkland Library and local citizens.
  • To publicize the functions, resources, services and needs of the library.
  • To help the library serve the public through fund-raising and program-sponsorship.

FOLK helps fund activities such as reading programs for children, teens, and adults, as well as special events and special library purchases. Our main fund-raising activities are our book sales, normally held twice a year, the first weekend in May and in November. Preview sales are open to members only. Donations of gently used books for our book sales are welcome year round. We are unable to accept foreign language items, magazines, or professional journals.

The Kirkland library is currently closed for renovation. Book sale information will be posted once the library reopens. Our temporary location, Kirkland Library @ Parkplace, does not accept donations. Instead, patrons are encouraged to donate to our sister library at Kingsgate.

Individual membership in FOLK is $5 per calendar year and a business membership is $10. Contact the Kirkland Library at (425) 822-2459 for more information on how you can volunteer or join FOLK.
