Outreach Services
The Library2Go! outreach program encompasses many great mobile outreach services, including ABC Express, the Traveling Library Center, Library2Go!, and Techlab. These vehicles bring library services out into the community, offering a wide range of options to many who are unable to travel to a library building.
Library2Go! Mini-Bookmobiles
Service to Children and Communities
Children and neighborhood communities are served by Library2Go! mini-bookmobiles and larger ABC Express buses. Library2Go! mini-bookmobiles serve childcare centers, low-income housing, and senior centers each week in KCLS' service area. Each vehicle carries approximately 1,500 library items for all ages including books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs that are available for check out at each stop. The vehicles rotate between KCLS' 47 libraries, with different local library staff using the vehicles each week for outreach in their community. Many smaller childcares are visited by Library2Go! throughout the community.
Contact library library2go@kcls.org or call Outreach Services at 425.369.3456 if you would like more information about this service.
Purchased with 2004 Capital Library Bond funding, these mini-bookmobiles began service in August 2010. The vehicles were designed with several green features, including solar panels on the roof that recharge the batteries and interiors furnished with recycled materials. The vendor for this project was Specialty Vehicle Services, LLC.
Collections for these vehicles are funded in part by generous donations from the King County Library System Foundation.
Local Friends of the Library groups have also supported Library2Go!. To find more information about Friends of the Library, click here and select your local library.

Library2Go! Traveling Library Center
Service to Senior, Disabled, or Homebound Patrons
The Library2Go! Traveling Library Center visits interested senior communities, retirement homes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities on a monthly basis. Library staff wheel in carts full of large print and regular print books, movies (DVD and VHS), audiobooks (cassette tape and CD), and music in order to create a library right where you live. With the assistance of portable computers, TLC staff provide reading recommendations and limited reference and can order interesting titles. Library2Go! Traveling Library Center staff are happy to work with activity directors, providing deposit collections and support for special programs. Learn More
