Shoreline Library
Library Collections & Services
The Shoreline Library serves the City of Shoreline and many surrounding communities. The large and wide-ranging library collection includes a variety of materials: books, videos, books on tape and CD, CDs, DVDs, newspapers, magazines, CD-ROMs, puppets, and financial newsletters.
Special collections in the library include new and interesting books, Large Print books, Consumer Information, a Career Center, City of Shoreline documents, a beginning readers collection for children, community information in the copy center, atlases, attractive book displays on a variety of topics, a collection for people who are learning English as a second language (ESL), and books, magazines and films in languages other than English (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese).
Shoreline Library is fully accessible, and has extraordinary public art on
display.
Computers
The Shoreline Library has over 40 public access computers that offer Web access
and Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Publisher. These computers are available
for 120 minutes per day with limited free printing to individuals with a King
County Library System library card. Additional computers in the library offer
exclusive access to the library catalog and to all of the many KCLS databases.
Librarians are available to help individuals use these resources. Patrons may
reserve an internet computer by calling the library, 206-362-7550, or using the online
Reserve a PC page from the KCLS website. There is a 10 minute grace period
for reservations.
The Shoreline Library offers a wireless
connection to our server for persons with laptops and other wireless devices.
Computer Classes
Shoreline Library offers free computer classes on the Internet, Microsoft
Word, and more. The schedule varies from month to month. Inquire at the Information

Library Programs
The Shoreline Library offers programs for all ages, preschoolers, children,
young adults and adults throughout the year. For information on current programs
simply call 206-362-7550.
1st and 3rd Thursday of each month
Volunteers from SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) are available by appointment to advise current and future small business owners. Please call the Shoreline Library, 206-362-7550, or stop at the Information desk to make an appointment.
SHIBA Counseling
1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month
Volunteers from SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors) will offer
free individual counseling at the Shoreline Library. Please call the Shoreline
Library, 206-362-7550, or stop at the Information desk to make an ap pointment.
Exam Proctoring
The Shoreline library will proctor some exams. Please read our guidelines and make sure that you and your instructor agree to these guidelines. Include a signed copy with the exam that is sent to the Shoreline Library.

Our large children’s collection also includes many non-fiction
books, books about real things to help you with homework, or if you are just
curious!
For parents and caregivers, the Shoreline library offers resources on parenting,
home-school materials, a special collection to help you in selecting books
for your child, a Child Care listings notebook, and more.
Our children’s area features two filtered Internet computers. Try out our web page for some great links to fun and informative sites for kids!
The children’s librarians offer story times for babies and children
aged 1 - 6 and their caregivers. They will schedule special story times for
day cares and for preschools and offer library tours for school groups by appointment.
Other free activities include performers and workshops that are fun for kids.

Services for Teens
Shoreline Library has a special section for Young Adults (aged 12-18).
Library materials include fiction and non-fiction books, paperbacks, magazines,
Comics, books on tape and CD and Graphic Novels. Reading recommendations by peers
and librarians are available. Volunteer opportunities for community service requirements
are plentiful! Stop in and see what’s new.
Read Three, Get One Free teen reading program
" Read Three, Get One Free" is
a book-review-and-reward program that is available at any KCLS community library.
Participating teens ages 12-18 can select a free paperback book for every three
books they read and review. Review forms are available at the library or they
can be downloaded here.
Study Zone (Free Homework Help)
Need homework help? Get it at the library! Volunteers will be on hand
to help students with their homework. No registration required.
Sunday-Thursday, 5-7pm
Talk Time
Come to our free English conversation group! Practice speaking English in a fun, casual environment. No registration required. Come by yourself, or bring a friend!
Mondays at 7pm
Wednesdays at 10am
Meeting Space
The Shoreline Library has two free meeting rooms. The larger room accommodates
approximately seventy people and the smaller room accommodates twenty people.
The meeting rooms can be scheduled, by members of the public who comply with
our meeting room policy, once every month and up
to two months in advance.
The Shoreline Library has two small study rooms available. There are sign
up sheets on the door and it is first come first serve. Individuals are limited
to using the room to two hours a day.
