Critter Campout

Have you ever wondered what happens in the library at night? Come for a Pajama Story Time and library tour with your favorite stuffed animal then tuck your special friend in for the night and leave them at the library for a stuffed animal sleepover. Munch on a snack and juice at the Teddy Bear Brunch the next morning 10:30am and find out what your best friend was up to at the sleepover when you receive a photograph of your stuffie's nocturnal activity! Children need not attend the Teddy Bear Brunch to participate but must pick up their stuffed animal and photograph within one week. Younger siblings welcome.

World Art Explorations: Ancient Egyptian Portraits

Create a portrait of yourself in the style of an Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs! We will travel to Egypt through our imaginations to learn about the art that decorated the walls of pyramids and buildings of ancient times. Working with acrylic paint, we will use techniques such as flattened space, color mixing, and adding specialized attire to paint a historical Egyptian-style image of ourselves.

World Art Explorations- Japanese Art Forms

In this fun mixed-media art class, students will try two art forms that reflect the unique culture of Japan: Suiseki, the art of miniature landscapes; and Sumi-e ink painting on rice paper. After learning about each form, students will create a 3D natural landscape using rocks, clay, moss and other materials and a 2D ink painting that explores simple lines, space and nature.
