Parents, Teachers and Child Caregivers are Invited to FREE Early Childhood Workshops
STARS (State Training & Registry System) is a career development system for those who work in childcare, early education and school-age care. King County Library System offers free childcare workshops for continuing education. Persons requiring STARS-approved continuing education credit will need to bring their STARS registration number the day of the workshop.
Register online for classes at www.kcls.org/stars or call the community libraries listed below.
Registration begins two weeks prior to the workshop.

Anger and Consequences vs. Empathy and Solutions
Presented by Kathy Slattengren, M.Ed., Priceless Parenting.
It’s natural to feel angry when children misbehave. However when we respond with harsh words and consequences, the children’s focus often turns to our response instead of their poor choices. Explore using anger and consequences versus empathy and solutions in response to misbehavior.

American Sign Language (ASL) is a great way to reduce frustration and aid early communication for hearing babies and toddlers. Discover a multiple intelligences and cross-curricular approach that incorporates teaching basic ASL vocabulary through art, music, story time activities and more.

American Sign Language for Hearing Babies and Toddlers
Presented by Nancy Hanauer of Hop to Signaroo ®
Learn to use American Sign Language (ASL) with hearing babies and toddlers to aid early communication, reduce frustration and give little ones a jump start on language and literacy. Practice signs through songs, stories and games that can be implemented in fun and easy ways throughout a typical day.
