Traveling Library Center

Service to Senior, Disabled, or Homebound Patrons

TLC Van

The Traveling Library Center visits interested senior communities, retirement homes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities on a monthly basis.  Library staff wheel in carts full of large print and regular print books, movies (DVD and VHS), audiobooks (cassette tape and CD), and music in order to create a library right where you live.  With the assistance of portable computers, TLC staff provide reading recommendations and limited reference and can order interesting titles.  TLC staff are happy to work with activity directors, providing deposit collections and support for special programs. Learn More

The Words on Wheels service provides library materials for homebound individuals and adult family homes.  Once a month, TLC staff and volunteers visit the homes of participating elderly or disabled, delivering materials suited to individual needs and interests.  Interested in volunteering?

King County Library System, in partnership with Washington Assistive Technology Alliance, offers a variety of daily living devices designed to help with challenges to vision, hearing, mobility, and communication.  To learn more, visit Special Collections, and for images of the devices, visit Washington Assistive Technology Alliance. Holds can be placed on these items through the Library Catalog.  Choose “Title keywords” and type “watap.”
