Guide to the Status Descriptions of Items

Note: Unless noted, items with a particular status can fill hold requests.  (Updated 3/17/11)

Item Status

Meaning/function

Available An item that is not committed to a patron. If it is available for checkout, it should be found on the shelf. If it isn’t on the shelf, then it is being prepared in the backroom.
Checked Out Currently checked out to a patron.
Cleared Hold not picked up by reserving patron. Being prepared to send to next patron or to owning library.

Display

Currently on display in a special location at the library.  Cannot fill hold requests.

Magazines currently reserved for in-house library use: might be available for checkout in the future.
Grand Opening Opening Day collection that is available for checkout but not for holds yet.

In Process

In the process of being added to the system. Cannot fill hold requests.

In Transit

On its way from one library to another.  Usually takes a few days to get there.

Lib Use Only

Library use only.  Cannot fill hold requests.  Cannot be checked out.

Mendery

Currently being fixed due to damage. Cannot fill hold requests.

On Hold Shelf

Waiting at a branch for the person who requested the item.

On Order

In the process of being purchased.  Cannot fill hold requests.

Reserved To be shelved on the hold shelves.
Reshelving Checked in item prepared to be reshelved.

Rotation TFR

Item is part of a collection in the process of being transferred to another library.  Cannot fill hold requests.
