Borrowing Outside of KCLS Service Areas
Reciprocal agreements between library districts and libraries in cities not served by KCLS allow residents of one district to use a library in another district. Library users are expected to follow the regulations of the district or city whose service they are using.
Reciprocal Borrowing Within King County
King County Library System extends borrowing privileges to residents and property owners in neighboring library systems. Within King County, these reciprocal borrowing privileges extend to people who live in or own property in the following cities:
• Seattle*
• Renton
• Enumclaw
*Seattle: Due to a modified reciprocal use agreement with the Seattle Public Library (SPL) that went into effect on October 1, 2006, patrons who live within the Seattle city limits can no longer place "holds" on KCLS materials. Learn more
Note: The towns of Yarrow Point and Hunts Point in King County have no agreement for library service with KCLS, and residents are not eligible for library service.
