Rongorongo of Easter Island
Hits: 1,920 Comments: 0 Entered: 06/05/03
This site provides a corpus for Rongorongo, the writing system on Easter Island. Being the only known pre-twentieth century written language in Oceania and one of the last languages which remains undeciphered, scholars continue to debate the meaning of the glyphs or signs. For a detailed discussion, read the commentaries of leading figures such as Sergei V. Rjabchikov, Jacques B.M. Guy, and Steven Roger Fischer.
