Looking for a way to be more involved in our community?
Consider becoming a Friend of the Woodmont Library! Share your love of books, make new friends, and invest your time and energy in expanding opportunities for kids, families and seniors in and around our community.
Friends of the Woodmont Library is a non-profit group that supports the Woodmont Library by volunteering, hosting fund-raising activities, sponsoring programs and services, and increasing awareness of the library’s vital community role.
Projects of the Friends include raising money for children and teen programs, through the ongoing used book sale in the library entrance area. Membership offers you the opportunity to share your views, donate your time, and lend your talents to make the Woodmont Library the best it can be.
It’s easy to join, and fun to be involved. And there is no membership fee!
To learn more, call 253-839-0121 and ask for Carol. Meetings are held bi-monthly on the 2nd Thursday at 6pm in the library meeting room.

City of Des Moines Library Board
The Library Board advises the City Council and the King County Library System on the planning, promotion, construction, and development of public library facilities and programs. Members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council, serve without compensation for a 3-year term. No member can serve more than two consecutive terms. Learn more
Meetings: Every other month, January-November alternating between Des Moines and Woodmont libraries. Call the library for dates and times.

Volunteer Opportunities
The Woodmont Library welcomes volunteers to help with a variety of tasks:
General Volunteers: help with shelf-reading to make sure the books are in order on the shelves, work on special projects such as adding labels to books and CDs.
Tech Tutors: teach classes to library patrons on how to use personal computers and the Internet.
Study Zone Tutors: act as a tutor to answer homework questions and direct students to additional resources.
