The King County Library System is governed by the five-member Board of Trustees in accordance with RCW 27.12.
Trustees serve as at-large members for no more than two consecutive five-year terms.
Citizens interested in serving on the Board may submit their names to the King County Executive for consideration.
Open Public Meetings
Board meetings are generally held on the last Wednesday of each month.
- Meetings are open to the public in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act (RCW 42.30).
- Agendas are posted about five business days before each meeting.
- Public comment is heard during the first 30 minutes of each meeting. The Board has adopted guidelines to facilitate the fair and orderly expression of public comments.
The Board may recess to an Executive Session to discuss matters in compliance with RCW 42.30. Sessions are not open to the public.
An annual retreat is typically held to discuss long-range planning or other library-related topics. The public is welcome to attend.
